Not Enough For A Snowman!

If you look closely enough at this picture of Jacob and his friend Rachael you will see the snow! Easter here was VERY cold with several small dismal attempts at a snowfall but it didn't settle. My weekend was brightened up by the appearance of the largest chocolate bunny you have ever seen! Gary and Jan delivered him on Saturday and the children are already desperate to 'crack' him but he is far too cute to be eaten yet!

I went swimming a couple of times over the weekend and it is certainly helping with the mobility in my shoulder. I have something called 'cording' in my arm now which often happens as a result of the surgery and is exacerbated by chemo. It feels like someone is pulling all the tendons in my inside arm out through my wrist. Very painful. My other arm is more painful however, due to the veins being inflamed because of the irritants in the chemo. I thought things would start to look more positive as I only have two more cycles to go now, but it seems the road back to 'normality' is still a long way off. As I have nothing cheerful or humorous to say I will sign off. You might like to know that despite the fact that most bodily hair has now disappeared the little blighters on my legs are still hanging on! This morning as I attempted to put mascara on my three remaining lower eyelashes I noticed that my eyebrows are looking very sparse. Do you think they make eyebrow wigs? See you soon, Deb x

Happy Easter To You!
Has the World Events Planner read the wrong version of the Bible? Could there be any other explanation as to why Easter is this early? And I have just seen the weather forecast which is looking pretty horrible so it won’t be conducive to little bunnies hopping around in the garden on Easter Egg hunts! I think its scorching over there in Oz isn’t it? Well, I hope your chocolate melts before you find it!!! Speaking of chocolate…..another very cruel twist of my current fate is that about this time last year (a few days before Easter) I had been given dozens of Lindt chocolate bunnies and various other assorted Easter eggs by my lovely class members who somehow guessed that I like chocolate! I hope Traci, Rosie and Lorna are being spoilt with MY SHARE!!!

Well done to those who did the marathon (great times George and Mrs Wol). And a few of you have signed up for the Ribbon Walk which is fantastic news!

Last week’s chemo was eventful. I outperformed everyone on the ward by being sick AS they were actually administering the anti-nausea drugs. They had to remove me to a room with a bed. I won’t go into more detail but it was very horrible. However I have not been sick since then. This type of chemo has different effects which I could tell you about in graphic detail if you like but it might put you off your easter eggs. Mostly aches and pains, tiredness and my taste buds feel like they have been uprooted and rubbed in a tray of kitty litter. I am hoping for a sense of normality soon – preferably before the Easter Bunny delivers on Sunday! But I believe it could be months before my taste sensations return to normal. Bye for now, Deb x

Cocoa Overload

We couldn't crack the reindeer last night because we were all too busy but pester power resulted in the demise of poor Ralph Reindeer today! The big event has resulted in tears and manic behaviour. I am trying to peel Ali and Tess off the ceiling as the sugar overdose has had rather a sudden effect. Jacob is distraught and in floods of tears because he loved 'Ralph' and is sad too see him go. He cheered up when I agreed to let him wear 'Ralph's' bell to school tomorrow. I am feeling very sick because I have not been eating dairy or any chocolate lately so 'Ralph's' rather large ears are still being digested! I think we should place bets to see how long one kilo of Lindt chocolate will remain in this house! Now Jacob is running around ringing 'Ralph's' bell and singing (screaming actually). They have never been this excited to see me after a day at school! Better go and make a carrot and orange juice to counterbalance the sugar overdose! Love Deb x
Big thanks to Gary and Jan for such a much lusted after present!
